Friends say they are increasingly worried about the painfully thin actress, who has spent the past few days throwing husband Ashton Kutcher's possessions out of their £5million Beverly Hills home.
A friend said: "She's determined to clear Ashton out of her life but she has been crying and crying.
"Demi is heartbroken but keeps repeating the mantra, 'I have to be strong'.
"She's in Hawaii to do a bit of soul-searching. We're very worried about her."
Demi called time last week on her six-year marriage to actor Kutcher, 33, after he cheated on her with party girl Sara Leal, 22.
He has been staying at the trendy Mondrian hotel in LA and "going off the rails", a source claimed.
