http://nowdailynews.blogspot.com - Nineteen-year-old actress Demi Lovato, who entered rehab for eating disorders in October of 2010, used her Twitter account to express her fury directly at Disney for allowing eating disorder jokes to be aired on two episodes of “Shake It Up.” A character stated, “I could just eat you up, well if I ate.”
One of Demi’s tweets stated: “Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.”
Another stated: “I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about..”
Disney responded to the actress very quickly and publicly announced that they removed the two episodes from the show.
Demi Lovato has re-emerged from her treatment looking very healthy and has visibly gained weight. She definitely looks normal and is still just as beautiful, if not more. I’m even more impressed by her awareness and openness about her former issues with eating disorders and calling out a huge corporation as Disney to effect change, one show at a time. Good for Demi!
