Kris Humphries, 26, has made the application to a Los Angeles court, documents reveal.
The papers do not contain details on the nature of the allegedly fraud.
But a source close to basketball player Kris told celebrity website TMZ that he felt betrayed by his wife of 72 days. He believes she used him as part of a cynical business venture.
Their fairy-tale ceremony on August 20 cost £6.2million, but earned the couple £11million from magazine deals, TV coverage and endorsements.
Curvy Kim filed for divorce on October 31, citing irreconcilable differences.
Pals have claimed the broody star pulled the plug on their relationship after Kris said he was not ready to be a dad.
At the time Kim, 31, released a statement saying: "After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage, I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision.
"I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."
But since she announced the split, Kim has faced accusations that the entire relationship was a sham.
Speaking on a radio programme she said: "I do want to make clear that I would never marry for a TV show, for money, or anything like that.
"I think it's really ridiculous that I have to defend that. I guess that's what comes along when you film your wedding for a reality show."
